Severn Bridge recognised in Civic Trust Awards
The Severn Bridge in the UK has been named the best structure in the bridges and civil engineering category of the 40th anniversary of the Civic Trust Awards. The suspension bridge, which has a main span of 997m and pioneered the aerodynamic steel box girder deck, was opened in 1966. The bridge came sixth overall among the 1025 award winners from the last 40 years.
