ADB provides loan for rail restoration
The Asian Development Bank is providing a US$60 million loan to help restore the rail link between the northern suburbs of Vietnam's capital Hanoi and China. Most of the 285km line was built before 1910 but has had little maintenance. The new US$160 million project will replace six bridges, rehabilitate 13, strengthen 60 and replace worn track. There will also be a new station as well as a programme of safety features.
